Matt sees substantial opportunities for disruption in the healthcare ecosystem.  He is focused on applying best practices and talent capital management to help investors scale businesses in the healthcare technology and services space.  As Managing Partner of Chasm, Matt is focused on driving HCIT enterprise value growth through innovative talent capital models working as “partners” with venture capital and private equity investors and their portfolio companies.

Matt brings over 20+ years of experience as a business leader in both large and small companies, where he led the qualification, launch and commercial expansion plans of 19 B2B and B2C business ventures across 14 countries.

Before serving as a Partner at Oxeon Partners, Matt was a change agent as SVP and Head of Marketing (CMO) for WebMD consumer businesses such as the company’s website, magazine and mobile assets.  Prior to WebMD, Matt was Founder & Managing Director of Nielsen Health (formerly a start-up business unit of The Nielsen Company) and subsequently President & CEO of Deutsche Ventures, where he conceived and commercialized first ever data integration methods and analytic solutions that help healthcare marketers, payers and providers optimize their patient communication campaigns in a HIPAA regulated data environment.

In this endeavor, he founded Ecosys Consumer Analytics, a healthcare patient targeting and marketing ROI analytics platform that eventually merged with Crossix Solutions.  Earlier in his career, Matt spent 8 out of his 10 years at Procter & Gamble in Frankfurt and Geneva developing and leading commercial expansion plans for several global packaged goods and consumer health brands.  Matt started his career in the group employee benefits space at Unum.

Matt graduated from Colby College where he started two businesses, one of which he sold before graduating and received an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. He is an investor and board member of various privately held ventures in the healthcare technology and services space. Matt is a member of the Board of Directors at Stamford Hospital, ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top hospitals in Connecticut, where he also serves on the Quality & Clinical Affairs as well as Finance Committees.

KRISTY LINDQUIST

Kristy found her niche as a global turnaround specialist in organizational development and operations. She has been a proven catalyst for change while leveraging the right people and leaders to achieve breakthrough results. After 25 years helping international companies in pharma and consumer products grow through challenging circumstances, she sees significant opportunity in helping healthcare technology & services companies scale by applying these experiences.

As an international business leader throughout her career, Kristy evolved as an accomplished leader and management consultant following 8 years at Procter & Gamble.  While at P&G, Kristy managed the P/L and growth strategies of several global brands in Western Europe and South East Asia, with particular focus on consumer health.  While at P&G, she led her organization successfully through the Thai currency crisis. Subsequently, Kristy took on several leadership roles as Chief Operating Officer of Axicorp Pharma and Chief Purchasing Officer of ACA Mueller, both of which were privately held European pharmaceutical distribution companies based in Germany.  In these roles, Kristy led significant restructuring and turnaround efforts during the German health care reform and following new private equity funding, leading to record profits.  Kristy also took on several projects in consulting and training for international clients, advising them on disruptive strategies to achieve growth.  Some of those clients include BRITA GmbH, Tivall Europe, AC Nielsen, Aventis Pharma, Amneal Pharma, and Constantia Flexibles.

Kristy graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and received her Master of International Management from Thunderbird Global School of Management.  She is fluent in German, enjoys globetrotting with her two young adult children, and enjoys running and hiking outdoors, especially since moving to Salt Lake City, Utah.

DAVID WOODWARD

David believes that in order for healthcare to transform from fee-for-service to value-based care, the Healthcare Information Technology industry will continue to face disruption and require “best in class” human capital to provide a competitive advantage. His view is that top talent in key functional areas like sales, marketing, operations, finance, and engineering will be necessary for venture backed companies in this space to not only win the sprint but keep pace in the marathon.

At Chasm Partners, David leverages his 20+ years of experience as an executive search professional in advising clients, and coaching candidates. He specializes in recruiting commercial oriented executives for early and later stage high growth clients, leveraging his experience from a broad range of client sectors including private equity, venture capital, healthcare, technology and consumer products.

Prior to joining Chasm Partners, David specialized in retained search focused venture backed healthcare technology companies at Ross & Company. Earlier in his career, he served in several senior recruiting roles at Lindsey & Company and O’Keefe & Partners, where he specialized in the recruitment of senior marketing, sales and general management executives. He brings experience having worked directly with senior leaders at clients ranging from high-growth startups to Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Visa, Domino’s Pizza, and Victorinox Swiss Army, while also partnering with Private Equity and Venture Capital clients including Summit Partners, General Catalyst, Hellman & Friedman, Frontier Capital, Harvest Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, Northbridge Venture Partners, and Venrock, among others.

David graduated from Babson College with a BS in Management and was a two-time All-American in Ice Hockey. He is an active investor and a Limited Partner in a number of funds focused on healthcare technology and services. He lives in Fairfield, CT with his wife and two children and enjoys ice hockey, boating, fishing, golfing and hitting the beach. He is an active member in the Catholic Club, Roxbury Club, and Fayerweather Yacht club. He still enjoys playing hockey in a men’s league and maintains his Level 4 coaching certification.

As a healthcare industry veteran, Pam has experienced first-hand the need for transformation of the US healthcare system. As a Partner with Chasm Partners, Pam leverages her experience with both established and early stage healthcare companies to identify exceptional talent in executive leadership, sales, operations, and customer success.

Before joining Chasm, Pam worked in business development, client success and consulting for healthcare startups and health systems. She has worked with seed stage companies, nonprofits and publicly traded companies across her healthcare career.

Prior to her endeavors in the healthcare start-up world, Pam spent four years with the Advisory Board Company in senior account executive and client success positions. She also spent close to a decade in hospital strategic planning and business development roles with both HCA and SCL Health. Pam started her career as a journalist covering fiscal, monetary, and trade policy in Washington, DC.

Pam is a graduate of Emory University and received an MBA from Columbia Business School. She lives outside of Denver with her family and enjoys spending her free time outdoors biking, hiking, and running up Colorado’s mountains. She also enjoys reading, cooking, and being “managed” by her poorly-behaved Australian Shepherd.

Jennifer Swasey

An operations and financial guru by heart, Jen’s passion is assisting businesses exceed their growth potential. Prior to joining Chasm, Jen was the Chief Financial Officer of Bespoke Partners, an executive search and leadership advisory company working primarily with private equity backed software technology firms. Prior to Bespoke Partners, Jen consulted with various companies across multiple industries to include DoD & government, the craft beer industry, real-estate, and nonprofits.  Jen currently resides on the boards of three non-profits supporting the Naval Helicopter Association, Naval Helicopter Association Scholarship Fund, and Naval Helicopter Association Historical Society.  She has also served as a volunteer with Junior Achievement, teaching financial responsibility and acumen in schools K-12.

Jen holds an ALM in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Harvard Extension University (2022).  An MBA from Strayer University (2013).  A Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Texas A&M University (2003).  An Executive Leadership Coaching Certification from Georgetown University (2022).

Jen resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her husband, two daughters, two pups, one turkey, and 16 chickens. Jen has an unhindered devotion to our US Military men and women (GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!) as part of a family that has served for 75+ years (grandfather, father, brother, and husband).  When not leading Chasm Partners, Jen is an avid swimmer & runner, farmer and dedicated to her family and friends.

Meredith Damore

As the daughter of a healthcare CEO and a hospital social worker, Meredith has spent not just her career, but most of her life, within the healthcare ecosystem. She has seen firsthand how organizations can thrive under great leadership and when less effective approaches have hindered leaders from achieving their goals; she is passionate about helping healthcare leaders have greater self-awareness in order to achieve their personal and organizational goals. As Executive Director of Chasm’s organizational development arm and a member of Chasm’s executive leadership team, Meredith is focused on coaching healthcare executives by leveraging assessments and feedback, helping their teams work more effectively together, and supporting investors (and founders) in understanding leadership opportunities for both current and prospective portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Chasm, she was the SVP, Strategy at Concentric Health Experience, overseeing complex strategic engagements for healthcare and life sciences companies. Previously, she was the Head of Partnerships/Business Development for a Series B healthcare technology startup. Meredith began her career in healthcare research and consulting where she oversaw large, multimillion dollar clinical transformation engagements serving large hospital systems, provider groups, and payors. She is the outgoing Chair of the Board of Directors for University of Pennsylvania’s Division I Varsity Volleyball program and is a member of the Leadership Council for the Carol Emmott Foundation, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to elevating women leaders in healthcare.

Meredith received her MA in Organizational Psychology and Change Leadership from Columbia University and holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also minored in German. She is certified to administer the Intercultural Development Inventory, the premier cross-culturally valid assessment for building cultural competence within organizations.

YATES BAKER

His career has been dedicated to healthcare and Life Sciences having worked with organizations like Eli Lilly and Company, Parexel, CVS/Aetna and United Healthcare. Taking a consultative approach, Yates works with his clients on large resourcing projects, aligning not just on hiring goals but also appropriate long term strategy that incorporates organizational design, recruitment technology and employment branding. As Partner and General Manager of ChasmTeam, Yates is focused on providing scalable talent solutions to high growth healthcare technology and services companies. In addition to his overall responsibility for ChasmTeam, Yates is a member of the Executive Leadership Team of Chasm Partners.

Prior to joining Chasm, Yates was the Vice President of Client Solutions at Sevenstep, a pure play RPO provider offering Talent Solutions, Employer Branding and Advisory services to middle market and F500 clients across the globe. Previous to Sevenstep, Yates held various executive roles at KellyOCG and IBM Kenexa in RPO Delivery, Solution Design and Sales. He brings deep expertise in designing and managing complex outsourced recruitment solutions.

Yates holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Appalachian State University and holds certifications as an Enterprise Design Thinking Coach and Practitioner from IBM. Yates resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife, two sons and their English Cocker Spaniel. When not leading ChasmTeam and chasing his children around, Yates is an avid outdoorsman, farmer and enthusiastic supporter of Appalachian State University’s football team.

Gary Kurtzman

Venture Advisor

Gary focuses his decades of experience across the healthcare spectrum to help a new generation of disruptive healthcare technology companies.  His specific areas of interest span from streamlining drug development, using data and advanced analytics to improve healthcare delivery, facilitating communication and information exchange between critical stakeholders, to expanding access and outcomes in patients with complex medical issues.   He currently serves an advisor, board member and investor for several entrepreneurs and health tech companies.

Gary is also Senior Advisor at Safeguard Scientifics where he was previously Managing Director, Healthcare, responsible for identifying, deploying capital in, and supporting emerging healthcare technology and medical devices businesses. Gary remains a Board Member of several Safeguard partner companies including Moxe Health, meQuilibrium, Prognos, Syapse.  Previous boards include Zipnosis (acquired by Bright Health), Velano Vascular and Alverix (each acquired by Becton Dickinson), Propeller Health (acquired by ResMed), Advanced BioHealing (acquired by Shire), and Avid Radiopharmaceuticals (acquired by Lilly).  He currently also serves as independent board chairman at NuvoAir, MedCrypt and Oncora Medical.

Before joining Safeguard, Gary was Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at BioAdvance, a state initiative funding early-stage life sciences and healthcare companies. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer at Pluvita Corporation, a company developing personalized medicine solutions and served as Chief Operating Officer at Genovo and head of research & development at Avigen, both development stage gene therapy companies. Gary began his career in industry with Gilead Sciences as virology group leader. Gary received his MD degree from Washington University, trained in internal medicine at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and completed hematology sub-specialty training at Stanford. He participated in post-doctoral research at both Stanford and the NIH.

Since 2006, Gary has taught an interdisciplinary graduate level course in entrepreneurship in the Healthcare Management Department at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  From the nearly one thousand MBA, MD and PhD candidates who have taken the course, many successful entrepreneurs, healthcare execs and VCs have emerged.

Rich Oasis

Rich is energized helping clients disrupt healthcare.  The one constant in healthcare is continuous change and organizations need to have the right talent to scale and adapt to that change.  Finding industry-altering talent helps companies differentiate themselves from the competition while developing a strategic growth (hiring) plan will ensure they lead the industry and don’t get passed by.

At Chasm Partners, Rich is responsible for leading RPO sales in addition to managing client searches.  Rich’s experience helping clients strategically manage their growth – whether it’s building out functional teams, hiring an executive, or growing the team in general, is a key element of his clients’ success.

Prior to Chasm Partners, Rich led executive search for Zelis Healthcare, a $600M, P/E backed technology company. Rich worked closely with the CEO to build out both the leadership team as well as their direct reports. Some of Rich’s key hires included a CEO for an acquired business unit, divisional CFOs, CTO, CISO, and a divisional COO. Earlier in his career, Rich founded Network Oasis, a recruiting firm focused on finding top talent for growing technology companies and helping them to scale.

Rich graduated from Phillips Academy and Ohio Wesleyan University.  He also has a Masters in Education from Endicott College. He lives in Dover, MA with his wife. Rich played tennis in college and currently is an avid soccer and hockey fan. His three kids all play soccer and Rich referees high school and college soccer.

She has worked with a variety of clients across healthcare and life sciences including for-profit healthcare services, healthcare information technology companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, health systems, and managed care organizations.

Preceding Korn Ferry, Julie served as First Vice President, Executive Talent Acquisition for a major financial services organization where she supported the organization’s senior leadership talent needs.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University and served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy.  She is an avid animal lover and enjoys the diverse food scene in Atlanta, GA where she lives with her spouse and their rescue dog.

Meagan Schmidt

Prior to joining Chasm Partners, Meagan led the executive and non-provider recruitment teams for legacy DaVita Medical Group, now Optum, part of United Health Group. She also managed all C-level searches for the National team. Meagan has successfully filled positions for a variety of clients and scale, ranging from boutique start-ups, to Fortune 5 companies.

Meagan attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science with a minor in Social Studies and Secondary Education. As a Principal at ChasmTeam, Katy looks forward to applying her professional expertise to developing, growing, and managing high performing teams. Her years of experience reflect her ability to merge fast-paced early agency career habits with effective relationship building skills.  While she has diversified herself over the years, Katy’s first recruiting love was in Information Technology. Prior to joining Chasm, Katy was a Principal TA Advisor for a global clinical research organization where she focused on driving the recruitment process forward for various functions within the company. Previous engagements included roles with companies such as Eli Lilly and Company, Shire Pharmaceuticals, Ford Motor Company, and United Healthcare. Katy has deep expertise in managing RPO deliveries and recruitment teams during stages of rapid growth.

Katy holds a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Advertising from Ball State University. She resides in Indianapolis with her husband and 2 children. Katy enjoys much of her time outside of work with her family and loves planning their next vacation. She frequently volunteers at her children’s school and serves on the PTA board. Renee Haynes

Prior to joining Chasm, Renee worked as a Recruiter in companies such as Duke Energy, Ingersoll Rand, Ernst & Young, and Sony Music. Her experience in large companies provided her with expertise in campus recruiting, project management, and entry-level to executive recruiting.

Renee is from North Carolina and currently lives in Austin, TX. She attended Marshall University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management. In her free time Renee enjoys exploring her new city of Austin and is an avid traveler.

Aaron Bartels

With a background in healthcare recruiting and sales, Aaron understands the importance of healthcare technology in today’s world to meet the evolving needs of patient care. Aaron’s primary focus is in the ChasmTeam division of Chasm Partners. With most of his experience being in RPO, he thrives in a collaborative environment where he can help grow companies by providing consultative solutions to their hiring needs.

Prior to joining Chasm Partners Aaron worked in the RPO space for almost 14 years partnering with clients such as Lilly, Daiichi Sankyo, Carestream Dental, Cardinal Health and Carefusion. Aaron’s recruiting experience ranges from entry level positions to high level leadership roles.

Aaron is from Missouri and currently lives in Sarasota, Florida with his wife and two children. He attended the University of Missouri where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In his free time Aaron enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, taekwondo and taking advantage of the beaches of Florida.

Prior to Chasm, Alison was a part of ADP RPO and partnered with clients such as Astellas Pharma, Lundbeck, ZimmerBiomet, Hill-Rom, Astra-Zeneca, and Carestream Dental, placing mid to senior level leaders within each organization. She is a certified AIRS recruiter and specialized in diversity and social media sourcing efforts.

Alison attended Messiah College, earning a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree with a focus in French and Music. She currently resides in Hershey, PA with her husband, three children, and two border collies and enjoys hiking, singing, playing piano, and traveling to places like the Outer Banks, NC and Denver, CO.

Preceding Iora Health, Kerry led full-cycle and campus recruiting efforts in strategy consulting, technology and financial services sectors.

Kerry graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. While at Brown, she competed as a D1 ice hockey athlete and maintains a very active lifestyle. She resides north of Boston, MA with her husband and two daughters. Prior to Chasm Partners, Ted was a consultative full-cycle recruiter, working primarily with startups and venture-backed early growth companies to achieve their business objectives with careful talent selection. He specialized in recruiting for senior management and above, as well as strategic individual contributors in industries including healthcare, software, market research, and advertising.

Previously, Ted was responsible for several high-traffic retail businesses, including a men’s department with more than 25 direct reports, and annual volume exceeding $7M. There he was able to refine his skills in areas like talent assessment and acquisition, training and development, and employee engagement, in addition to broader business tools like P&L management, customer service, and conflict resolution. Realizing he had an affinity and aptitude for talent and human resources, Ted made the decision to transition into a career as an executive recruiter, and hasn’t looked back.

David joined Chasm while pursuing a Master of Public Health and a Master of Healthcare Administration at the University of Utah. Before attending school, he was abroad working to provide sustainable access to healthcare in Uganda, Nepal, and Romania. He enjoyed recruiting and training multidisciplinary teams to live abroad and assist areas recovering from natural disaster and civil war. After returning to the United States, David worked at Stanford Cancer Center to help strategically grow their network. 

In his young career, David has strived to live by a mantra of “turn outward and serve.” For him, healthcare is not just a business. People are valuable, and healthcare provides the opportunity to advocate and protect their well-being. Chasm is an opportunity that allows him to utilize his operational experience to work on a team contributing to companies who are invested in improving the lives of others through innovative advancements in social determinants of health. David recently completed an administrative fellowship with Northwell Health in New York.

Aside from healthcare, David can be found teaching tap and clogging, singing with chamber choirs in NYC, and skiing every chance he gets.
